On offer here are a replica pair of ancient
Sumerian cuneiform tablets. Original tablets were incised in moist clay, then fired or left to harden in the sun. The larger tablet still has a thumb print from the ancient scribe who wrote it.
Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone, They have an aged earthy patinas with a light polish.
The writing appears on both sides of both pieces. The front of each of the tablets are completely covered in lines of cuneiform text wrapping around to the reverse which has only half as much writing.
I don't know what the translation is. I would imagine they are some kind protection prayers or even a docket of an ancient transaction. Whatever they say, they are a direct link to the ancient minds who conceived one of the earliest forms of writing in the world.
