On offer here is a detailed replica example of a Sumerian bull man statue. These statue types were originally created around 2500 B.C.E.
In addition a complimentary impression that also features the bull man in a struggle with Gilgamesh.

Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone these pieces have an aged patinas.

Notes on the statue

Most likely from ancient Telloh the statue depicts an image of a human headed bull which was a motif found throughout Mesopotamian history in variations of form. The bull man statues were associated with the sun god and had restorative and protective qualities.
This example shows the recumbent bull with human face sporting a long, curly beard. Although the face is human, he retains the ears of a bull and three pairs of horns can be seen resting on the top of the head creating a divine crown.

Notes on the seal impression

The bull man on the left is a character often noted to be Enkidu, the companion of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh the Sumerian warrior-king can be seen on the right.

Enkidu was a man who was raised by animals, and not usually shown as a bull/man but it is likely that Sumerian artistic convention could to sometimes show a level of flexibility to portray him as such.

Grabbed by the tail and manes the two rampant bulls have raised their forelegs to rest on the stylized mountain of the sacred tree.
