On offer here is a striking replica featuring the god most high in the religion of Zoroastrianism.
Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone, it is aged and textured to give an authentic ancient look. The colour is a slate grey/black with a hint of ochre.
A carefully placed wire hook in the back allows for a wall display option.
Background information
First appearing during the Achaemenid period (550-330 b.c.e) during the splendid reign of Daurius 1st found at a most impressive mountain cliff monument at Behistan.
He was regarded as the god of truth and justice and his very name meant 'light and wisdom'.
The typical imagery of the god is displayed to great effect in the artwork on offer as he is shown flying aloft in a winged disc.
Stylized cuneiform writing can be seen flanking the god in the upper portion of the carving.
