On offer here and made to order, is a fine replica example of one of the many Persian lion weight statues that were used in antiquity to measure quantities of grain, gold and other commodities. The form of the lion was a potent symbol of power that was used extensively in the arts of the Mesopotamian civilisations.
Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone this statue has a slate grey / black patina and has been given a light polish.
