This handsome necklace features one of the greatest and most famous figures of the ancient world. From the Mediterranean cities and provinces, to Egypt and India, Alexander the Great had an explorative mind that wished to see the depth and breadth of the unknown world.
Vast distances were travelled with a loyal entourage, an army of soldiers and thousands of horses. Alexander brought many established civilisations under the influence of Macedonian culture, opening trade routes and maintaining others. From the Nile to the Oxus river, outposts were established in the name of Alexander but native customs were allowed to continue.
In Egypt he took on the role of Pharaoh and ushered in a new renaissance of Egyptian culture that would be eventually known as the Ptolemaic dynasty.
Made of a composition stone using quartzite and limestone, this replica amuletic necklace has an aged earthy patina. It has been given a light polish which adds great contrasting highlights in the decorative patterns of this highly detailed piece. A 48 cm / 19-1/4 inch length of plaited leather with silver clasps completes the style.
