On offer here is a signed edition of one of my Nefertiti carvings displaying the beautiful features of the Queen with hand painted details.
This actual piece shows subtle flesh tones, soft reds, yellow ochre, papyrus green, black & white and is dominated by the blue hues of that unique and magnificent crown that was her signature feature in sculpture and relief representations.
She is in a pose of offering an unguent jar to the solar god Aten, who was shown as the sun disc with multiple rays ending in human hands. Only one hand survives in this fragment and it holds the ankh symbol of life and fertility. In most scenes where the royal family were involved, the Aten disc was shown above the human figures and where the sun ray came closest to the nose of an individual, the Ankh was offered, thus offering a 'breath of life'. A curious feature of the Akhenaten family sun worship that rarely gets mentioned.
Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone, she has been mounted on an easily removable felt based stand which provides an excellent support.
It is a sunken relief so will benefit from good overhead lighting that will highlight the details. I have used a simple desk lamp in these photos to bring out the cheekbones.
