On offer here is a replica ancient
cuneiform tablet. Original tablets were incised in moist clay, then fired or left to harden in the sun.
Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone, it has an aged patina with a light polish.
The circular disc has very precise characters of text which suggests it was made in a royal workshop. This is a much more complex and ordered use of ancient writing of a type used in later Sumerian culture as well as Babylonian and Assyrian. A likely translation for this rare object would be a temple foundation prayer or a document of its dedication ritual.
