This finely shaped scarab has underneath, a typical middle kingdom scrolls work design surrounding three hieroglyphs. At the top is Ra the sun god represented as a disc, the Nefer sign in the middle (that which is good) and the ankh at the bottom - a symbol of life and fertility.
Middle scarab
Dimensions - Length - 6. 7 cm / 2-1/2 inches
This scarab replica has fine lines on the outer wing casing and inscriptions on bottom featuring the eye of Horus and the symbol for gold - ‘nub’.
Human headed Scarab
Dimensions - Length - 6 cm / 2-3/4 inches
Width - 4 cm / 1-1/2 inches
One of the rarest forms of scarab include a human head placed where the scarab head usually is. Representing the ancient owner it seamlessly blends in with the thorax and main body.
