One of the rarest forms of scarab include a human head placed where the scarab head usually is. Representing the ancient owner it seamlessly blends in with the thorax and main body. It is a more personalised way to ensure the ancient soul is reborn in the afterlife. Stylistically this example appears to be late 18th to early 19th dynasty.
