PALACE MUSICIAN ~ 18th dynasty Lute player

Dimensions ~

Height - 36.5 cm - 14-1/4 inches

Width ~ 25.5 cm - 10 inches

Available here for the first time after a month of domestic excavations at my old studio, is this charming painted carving of a palace musician playing a lute.

Made of Temstone which is no longer available, this piece dates to about 2004. I have added some subtle painted details to give it an ancient look and carefully drilled an angled hole on the back so she can be mounted as a wall feature if you so wish.

The design was based on the many Egyptian musicians that were depicted on the walls of homes and tombs alike during the 18th dynasty. The large eye and fluid fingers of the lady suggest depictions created in the reign of Amenhotep III.
