On offer here is a rare proto-Elamite cylinder seal impression replica and an Assyrian example both featuring the ibex.
These seal impressions are replicas of well preserved excavated examples. The larger of the two features a bold linear pattern that is clear and vibrant.
This style is from the proto-Elamite period which encompassed a time dating from around 3100-2900 B.C.E.
Cuneiform writing was still in it's infancy at this stage, but seals featuring elaborate designs such as the leaping ibex on offer here, were used to make the owner's mark in clay or wax.
The smaller seal impression also features the ibex but is of a style akin to the later Assyrian period. The tree of life frames this ibex duo.
Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone they have aged an patina.
*As each item is handmade, slight colour variations may occur.
