Sumerian cylinder seal impression

Queen Puabi

Dimensions :-

Seal impression - 8.7 cm x 5.2 cm / 3-5/8 x 2-1/8 inches

Available here is an early Sumerian cylinder seal impression.

Originally belonging to Queen Puabi this is a replica impression of what the seal produced when put to use. It was found on her very body when her tomb was discovered.

Divided into two scenes, the seated Queen Puabi partakes in a banquet attended to by males brandishing offering bowls or cups. Tables and flasks are also present in a scene that offers a glimpse of royal life in ancient Sumer. As close to a photograph of ancient life as was possible around 2600 B.C.E.

Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone it has an aged patina.

*As each item is handmade, slight colour variations may occur.
