Background information -
Powerful and enduring goddess of mothers and magic from ancient Egypt. Her influence was felt across the Mediterranean and she was worshipped even in Roman times. Her temple on the Island of Philae in the south of Egypt was to become the last bastion of Egyptian religious culture when the coming wave of Christianity closed the temple doors for the last time and the last hieroglyphics were written there.
Her magic is well documented and her most notable, and powerful example was her ability to ressurect her husband Osiris so he could father the child Horus. Isis nursed the young Horus on an Island until he was mature enough to avenge the death of his father who was murdered by his uncle Seth.
Isis had the ability to fly and could transform herself into a swift / or kite bird and these animals were considered sacred to an ancient population that adored this goddess until the very end of ancient Egyptian civilisation.
